Benchmarks

Each year since 2001, the BC Progress Board has released an interim report, and an annual report since 2003. These reports compare the province's performance to the other Canadian provinces. The comparisons are made in six key areas, or core targets: the economy, standard of living, jobs, environment, health, and social condition. The Board also compares BC and the rest of Canada according to 26 performance indicators. For many of these measurements, the Board compares BC not only to other Canadian jurisdictions, but jurisdictions throughout North America and to OECD countries. For a more detailed analysis, the Board prepares special "topic boxes."
