Performance Indicator Eleven follows the percent of the population (aged 25-54) that has earned a university credential.

In 2007, BC was second behind Ontario in university completion, maintaining the position it has held since 2002. Trailing BC were Quebec, Alberta and then Manitoba.

Over the period 1998-2007, all the provinces experienced significant growth in the proportion of people who completed university. British Columbia had the third-largest increase. Saskatchewan had the smallest increase although its ratio grew by 20 percent.

Why It's Important
Although there are many different forms of post-secondary credentialing, university completion is an important indication of a jurisdiction's success in building the high level academic, managerial and entrepreneurial skills necessary in today's knowledge driven economy. This indicator measures the percentage of the population aged 25 to 54 that has attained a university education.
